Wilkes Family Halloween display brings spooky fun to Bensenville’s month-long celebration
During the month of October, the village of Bensenville will transform into a Halloween spook-tacular! For the fourth year in a row, the Wilkes Family will bring their annual Halloween display back to downtown Bensenville, with additional events such as Bensenville’s Trunk-or-Treat taking place.
The display is located at the corner of Center and Green streets, next to the Bensenville Village Hall, 12 S. Center St. It will be available for viewing in the evenings starting Friday, Sept. 26, and will continue throughout the entire month of October.
On Friday and Saturday evenings from 7 to 10 p.m., weather permitting, the display will come to life with live actors. Additionally, live actors will be present on Friday, Oct. 31, for Halloween.
This year, the event will feature multiple themed nights that will bring famous classic monsters to life. Visitors can experience iconic creatures like Dracula, Frankenstein’s Monster, the Mummy, the Wolfman and other timeless ghouls will step out of the shadows and come to life. To ensure a safe experience for everyone, minors must be accompanied by adults and adults are not permitted to wear masks.
“The village works diligently to organize events that invites the community to connect and recognize what an incredible community this is,” said Bensenville Village President Frank DeSimone. “Halloween in Bensenville has become an annual tradition and each year our collaboration with the Wilkes family has expanded. This has contributed to month-long programming that offers safe and memorable experiences for residents and visitors of all ages.”
In conjunction with the display, the village of Bensenville will host a family-friendly Trunk-or-Treat event from 3 to 5 p.m. on Halloween. This event will take place on Center Street next to Village Hall. Bensenville organizations and businesses will be transforming their trunks into creative candy stations, handing out treats to children, ages 3-11. Wear your costumes and prepare to fill those Halloween baskets.
Additional Halloween events taking place in Bensenville include a Halloween Home Decorating contest hosted by the Bensenville Village Board, with the winner being selected by the village.
