A refreshing father-son story

What a refreshing first page story on Sunday (“Walking in his father’s bootsteps”) that educates and does not indoctrinate.

I can relate. My father was in World War I and when he finally was able to take his boots off, he discovered his socks had disintegrated. He survived trench warfare, when nine out of 10 in his battalion died, survived his machine gun nest being blown up when he was not in it, but his two buddies were and the Spanish flu when the other 21 in the field hospital all died from it.

I visited Dachau and it was a well-oiled method of using up human labor for the war effort and eliminating those viewed as being expendable. The Jewish population was on top of the list.

I have often thought about retracing my father's military trail through northern France. Disappointed that explaining to your readers the mindset of Charles Kirk has not been done to educate and not indoctrinate. He was on a mission to educate and bring sanity back into the political venue.
