Out of the Dark hosts candlelight vigil for Domestic Violence Awareness Month
Out of the Dark, a Bloomingdale-based nonprofit supporting survivors of domestic violence, is continuing its faith-based support groups at The Compass Church in Naperville. It is currently one of the only faith-based programs of its kind in Illinois.
The fall session is ongoing, offering a confidential space for women to heal from both physical and verbal abuse, rebuild confidence, and reclaim their lives. It is open to anyone in need of healing that would like to try out our group.
As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (October), they are also hosting a candlelight vigil at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 10, at The Compass Church, 1551 Hobson Road, Naperville.
The vigil will honor survivors, remember lives lost, and feature inspiring words from attorney, author, and survivor Charlene Quint, along with other survivors.
“These groups have been life-changing for so many,” said Loraine Garcia-Godfrey, co-founder and executive director of Out of the Dark. “Survivors tell us they find strength, community, and the courage to move forward.”
