Wego Drama bringing the laughs with Hitchcock parody ‘The 39 Steps’

Wego Drama at West Chicago Community High School starts homecoming early by bringing “The 39 Steps” to life onstage. The classic Alfred Hitchcock film finds new life with this wild comedy. It is adapted by Patrick Barlow from the novel by John Buchan.

This Tony-nominated and Oliver Award-winning play is about an average man who becomes in a spy-story to save his country. The mission turns into a madcap farce as zany characters get in his way.

Like the Hitchcock film, it is filled with eccentric characters and suspense. The Wego Drama season theme is “Life Is A Mystery!” Wego Drama wants you to be able to solve the mystery, but have a lot of fun, too.

Matthew Krysinski explains, “This show is so much fun to do. We are bringing the film to life in our own way. This show feels like Alfred Hitchcock through the lens or Mel Brooks or Monty Python. It is hysterical trying to show just what are ‘The 39 Steps.’”
