Man charge with burglaries in Naperville

A man has been charged with burglarizing several Naperville businesses from late July to early September.

Prudencio Ugaban, 54, who does not have a fixed address, is charged with six counts of burglary, according to a news release from the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office. Court records for previous cases indicate he used to live in the 1200 block of Whispering Court, Naperville.

Naperville police arrested Ugaban Saturday. He was found inside of a vehicle with a smashed window, in the 1500 block of West Ogden Avenue.

He is accused of burglarizing Spice Mart, 1552 North Aurora Road, at 11:35 p.m. July 24 and 2:11 a.m. Aug. 15; Marathon gasoline station, 991 W. Ogden Ave., around 12:30 a.m. July 28 and 2:10 a.m. Sept. 7; Ogden Wine an Spirit, 1568 W. Ogden Ave., at about 4:35 a.m. Aug. 27; and Bombay Chopsticks, 1568 W. Ogden Ave., around 4:59 a.m. Sept. 5.

The charging documents do not state what, if anything, he may have taken.

The charges are not detainable offenses. On Monday a first-appearance court judge set conditions on Ugaban, including not entering any Marathon, Ogden Wine and Spirit, Bombay Chopsticks or Spice Mart locations.

But also on Monday, in a different courtroom, prosecutors filed a petition to revoke his release on a previous case. In June, Ugaban was charged with misdemeanor retail theft. He was accused of stealing food and beverages from the Park To Shop store at 4334 E. New York St., Aurora, according to court records.

That petition is scheduled to be heard Tuesday morning.
