Mundelein Historical Commission to hold Cemetery Walk

The Mundelein Historical Commission will hold its second annual Cemetery Walk at 1 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at Ivanhoe Cemetery, 21150 Highway 176; followed by an indoor presentation at the Fremont Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 1. The shows are free, but limited in space, so interested parties must register at mundelein.org. Rain date is Sunday, Sept. 28. Monologues will be 3-5 minutes long. On Sept. 27, there will be a brief opening ceremony under the historic oak tree at Ivanhoe church. Attendance at each show will be limited to 70 people. There is no charge, but registration is required.

Visitors will follow a circuit where they will be met by actors portraying several people who were significant in the history of Fremont Township. Included will be historic figures James and Rebecca Holcomb, portrayed by Loren and Tracy Skinner; Mercy Hitchcock Payne, played by Marilee C.C. Rusiniak; Thomas Hubbard Payne, played by Drew Scott Hemmerich; Gordon Ray, played by Mike Lieberman; Hurlbut Swan, played by Randy Rice; and Ray Wells, played by Jon Matousek. The show was written and directed by local author Joyce Becker Lee.
