El Grito Parade celebrates Mexican independence in Carpentersville
The annual El Grito Parade brought color, music, and culture to the streets of Carpentersville Saturday.
El Grito, or El Grito de Independencia, is a historic and cherished tradition in Mexico, marking the beginning of the country’s fight for independence from Spanish rule.
After the parade the festival continued at Carpenter Park for the El Grito Festival with food, live bands, and family activities.
