United Fall Fest returns with live music, car show and fireworks

The community is invited to the annual United Fall Fest on Saturday, Sept. 13, on the grounds of Congregational United Church of Christ, 40W451 Fox Mill Blvd. in St. Charles. The free event will be 3 to 10 p.m.

The festival started in 2011 as a community event in partnership with the Fox Mill Community and the village of Campton Hills to raise money for community charities. Each year, the fest recognizes one primary charity with a $10,000 grant.

This year’s recipient is Lazarus House, which provides safe shelter, food, and a range of support services for men, women and children in need of help. It serves people who are connected to Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, and western rural Kane County, by address, employment, school district, or immediate family member.

The festival features a lineup of live music, a classic car show, the helicopter landing at 5 p.m., fresh off-the-grill food to tempt your taste buds including barbecue, courtesy of Firewater BBQ, and several different drinks to wash it all down. The evening ends with a spectacular fireworks display.

The Vintage Swing Band will kick off the music stage followed by the local favorite cover band, Serendipity, with all your favorite pop hits from the 1960s to today.

The Kids Corner will feature a scavenger hunt at 4:30 p.m., Dave Dinaso's Traveling World of Reptiles at 5:15 p.m., and the Colonial Ice Cream-eating contest at 6:30 p.m., followed by a showing of the animated movie “Moana 2" at 7:30 p.m. There also will be bouncy houses and slides, obstacle course, toddler build and play, Gaga Ball, face painting, hayrides and fire trucks.
