Our Saviour’s Lutheran in Naperville to host blood drive Sept. 9

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Naperville will host a community blood drive with Versiti on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The drive will take place from noon to 4 p.m. in the fellowship hall at the church’s campus at 815 S. Washington St. in Naperville.

All eligible donors are encouraged to make an appointment at oursaviours.com/home/news-events or by calling Versiti at 800-7TO-GIVE. Walk-ins also are welcome.

In the U.S., someone needs blood every two seconds, and there currently is no substitute for human blood. A single blood donation can save as many as three lives. Versiti Blood Center of Illinois is the leading provider of blood products for Edward Hospital.

Donors should bring a government photo ID to their appointment and consume a meal before donating. Whole-blood donors are eligible to donate every eight weeks.

Our Saviour’s fall blood drive with Versiti coincides with the church’s observance of “God’s Work. Our Hands” week, an annual service-focused celebration of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, of which Our Saviour’s is a member.

During worship services Sept. 13-14, members of the congregation will assemble patient-care kits for Bringing JOY, a local not-for-profit that supports cancer patients and their families. On Sept. 14, the congregation also will prepare infant-care kits to be sent to families in need around the world through Lutheran World Relief.

Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, with two campuses in central Naperville, is an inclusive, affirming Reconciling in Christ church offering both traditional and contemporary worship services each weekend. For more information on Our Saviour’s, visit oursaviours.com.
