Get a behind-the-scenes tour of a native seed processing facility
The Forest Preserve District of Kane County harvests seeds from native plant species every summer and fall, but what happens to those seeds after they have been collected?
Join the natural resource management team for a special behind-the-scenes tour through their state-of-the-art seed processing facility. There, you’ll see firsthand the start-to-finish techniques and equipment used to dry, clean and sort native seeds in preparation for sowing back onto the landscape.
The next “Learn from the Experts” will be a behind the scenes tour of a seed processing facility on Thursday, Oct. 2.
It will be 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Mill Creek Greenway Forest Preserve, 02N253 Brundige Road in Elburn. The fee is $10 per person.
