South Barrington police to target impaired driving
South Barrington police this week will launch a focused effort to stop drunken drivers and ticket drivers not wearing seat belts.
The effort, scheduled to begin Friday and end Sept. 2, is part of statewide road safety campaigns that coincide with the upcoming Labor Day weekend.
Officers will be watching for drivers who are impaired by alcohol, cannabis or other drugs. Police suggest planning ahead and assigning someone sober to be a designated driver.
“We want our community to enjoy the holiday weekend safely and responsibly,” Sgt. Michael Lynch said in a news release.
