Woman killed in Hawthorn Woods crash identified

Authorities on Tuesday identified a 28-year-old Round Lake Beach woman as the person killed in a two-vehicle crash Saturday in Hawthorn Woods.

AnnMarie Macias-Lauritzen died as a result of injuries suffered in the collision, the Lake County coroner’s office reported.

The crash occurred about 4:30 p.m. Saturday at North Fairfield Road and Holmes Avenue, officials said.

A preliminary investigation showed that a 2014 Honda CR-V was traveling south on North Fairfield Road when it crossed the double yellow line and struck a 2007 Honda Accord headed north, authorities said.

Macias-Lauritzen, a passenger in the Accord, was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of both vehicles were taken to area hospitals for treatment, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hawthorn Woods Police Department and the Major Crash Assistance Team of Lake County.
