Upcoming events at Schaumburg Township

The following upcoming events are offered at Schaumburg Township, 1 Illinois Blvd., Hoffman Estates.

60s and 70s Music Night: Put on your favorite hippie or disco outfit to experience a psychedelic evening of dancing, singing, trivia and socializing, featuring entertainer Jeff Dewbray. This event is at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 29. The price is $10, which includes admission, light snacks and bottled water. This event is bring your own beverage. Meet the Schaumburg Township Road Commissioner: The Township of Schaumburg Road District Commissioner Tim Buelow invites the public to an informal meet and greet from 6-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 30. At this event, meet the new commissioner, learn more about township services and mingle with neighbors. Light snacks and drinks will be provided. Residents do not need to RSVP for this event. Family Movie and Pajama Night: Wear your pajamas and bring your favorite pillow, blanket and stuffy to see “Inside Out” at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 31. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided during the movie. For added fun, play “Movie Bingo” where you will check items off as you find them in the movie. Free Assistive Technology Presentation: Learn how to enhance your independence and find out what kinds of assistive technology devices and services are available to individuals of all ages with disabilities and health conditions in Illinois. Meet with Terri Worman with the Illinois Assistive Technology Program to learn of simple solutions. This free event is at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6. Registration is required online at schaumburgtownship.org, in-person or by calling (847) 285-4541.

Schaumburg Township Blood Drive: In partnership with Vitalant, the Township is hosting a blood drive on from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 14. For each presenting blood donor, Vitalant will give $20 to the Township Food Pantry; thus, every donor will support two important missions. Sign up to donate at donors.vitalant.org.

Coffee Chat: Join the Township of Schaumburg’s Disability & Senior Services Committee for our Monthly Coffee Chat, an informal and welcoming opportunity to learn more about the range of disability and senior services available in the community. The Committee presents Dr. Melissa Drake and Dr. Kristen Maguire of Doctor Daughters, who will lead a discussion on loneliness, its impact and strategies to overcome it, at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 20. This event is in collaboration with Comfort Keepers. No registration is required.
