Bill is age discrimination
The state legislature passed a bill on March 22, 2025 increasing the mandatory driving testing age from 79 to 87 for seniors. This bill takes effect in July 2026. Why?
We have been told that part of the bill allows families to report a person who is no longer able to safely drive. This gives the state staffers time to create rules and train testing center personnel to enforce them.
So, what does this have to do with the many seniors in Illinois age 79 to 87 who will get a notice to take the driving test in the next year when they think the bill was passed?
I think this is age discrimination against the seniors. Especially when the state did not wait a year to implement at least 10 new tax laws that took effect on July 1, 2025!
