Four injured, one critically, in Grayslake-area crash

A 32-year-old Volo woman was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a two-car crash Sunday morning near Grayslake, authorities said.

Lake County sheriff’s deputies responding to Route 60 and Fairfield Road at about 7 a.m. found two vehicles with heavy damage, officials said.

A preliminary investigation indicates a Volkswagen Atlas driven by the Volo woman was eastbound on Route 60 approaching Fairfield Road when it failed to stop at a red light and struck a southbound Nissan Pathfinder in the intersection, officials said.

The impact of the crash caused the vehicles to strike a traffic light pole, according to the sheriff’s office.

The driver of the Nissan, a 42-year-old Round Lake woman, and two of her passengers were taken to a hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, authorities said.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team.
