Palatine police arrest multiple DUI offender in traffic stop

A Chicago man whose driver’s license was suspended for multiple prior offenses of driving under the influence of alcohol was charged with it again after a traffic stop in Palatine early Tuesday.

Dorel Costiuc, 57, of the 2900 block of North Kolmar Avenue, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and improper lane use.

Officers stopped Costiuc’s black Chevrolet Silverado about 2:15 a.m. in the 900 block of East Dundee Road after observing it commit several lane-use violations, authorities said.

During the traffic stop, officers reported observing signs of impairment in Costiuc, learned that his driver’s license was suspended and found open alcohol inside the vehicle.

Costiuc appeared in court Friday when his next hearing was scheduled for Sept. 10 in Rolling Meadows.
