Man faces child pornography charges again
A St. Charles man has been accused of distributing child sexual abuse material on the Kik instant messaging app.
Corey J. McDonald, 29, of the 1500 block of East Main Street, is charged with dissemination of child pornography, possession of child pornography, and violation of the sex offender registration act, according to a news release from the Kane County state’s attorney’s office.
He is being held in the Kane County jail, awaiting a pretrial detention hearing. His next court date is July 24.
The Kane County Child Exploitation Unit investigated the case, based on a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
According to the release, the charges state that McDonald disseminated the images to a chat group on Kik in January. The charges also say he violated the registration act by failing to properly register his use of Kik.
He was arrested on Monday.
McDonald pleaded guilty in 2021 to possession of child pornography — victim under the age of 13. He was sentenced to 24 months of probation and ordered to register for life as a sex offender. The state registry says he is homeless.
