Motorcyclist killed in weekend crash identified as Grayslake man
A motorcyclist who died from injuries as a result of a crash early Saturday in an unincorporated area near Gurnee has been identified as Andrew Ryan, 27, of Grayslake.
Authorities said Ryan was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson motorcycle involved in a crash with a 2005 Nissan Rogue about 6:20 a.m. on Route 45 north of Dada Drive.
Preliminary reports showed Ryan failed to properly negotiate a curve while heading north on Route 45 and crossed into the southbound lane of traffic, striking the Nissan Rogue.
Ryan was pronounced dead in the emergency room at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. An autopsy Monday showed he died from blunt force injuries as a result of the crash, according to the coroner’s office.
The driver of the Rogue, a 69-year-old man from Lake Villa, was not injured. The crash is under investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations team.
