Chicago Dogs suffer loss, head to Geneva to take on Kane County Cougars

Both starting pitchers absolutely dominated in Thursday’s game between the Chicago Dogs and Sioux Falls, going seven innings allowing just one earned run. The Dogs lost 2-1 in Rosemont.

Jack Nedrow went for the Dogs, striking out seven, allowing five hits and no walks. His opponent, Thomas Dorminy, allowed six hits and one walk while striking out six.

Both teams scored a run in the fourth inning. For the Canaries, a Josh Rehwaldt single to right scored Mike Hart, to begin the scoring. In the bottom of the inning, the Dogs answered right back on a single to center field by Dusty Stroup, scoring T.J. Hopkins. After that, it was silent. The bullpens did their jobs, and the game went to extras. Finally, in the top of the 11th inning, the Canaries scratched across a run on a sacrifice fly from Jordan Barth, scoring Peter Zimmerman.

The Dogs couldn’t bring home the automatic runner in the bottom half of the inning and dropped the series finale to the visiting Canaries. The Dogs look head down the street to Geneva to face the Cougars for the first time in 2025, beginning a four-game series on Friday night.
