Elgin’s The Hill BMX named 2025 State Championship host
The Hill BMX racetrack, located within the Elgin Sports Complex in Elgin, has been named the host track for the 2025 BMX State Championship.
This prestigious award is granted annually to the No. 1 ranked BMX track in the state, and this year marks a historic first for The Hill BMX in its 35-year existence.
BMX racetrack rankings are determined by a comprehensive point system that evaluates factors such as the number of races hosted and the volume of BMX riders participating in those events.
“The success of The Hill BMX’s Beginner League program played a significant role in the racetrack being ranked No. 1 in the state for the first time ever,” said JoAnne Mulvihill, track operator.
“The BMX State Championship is expected to bring thousands of visitors to Elgin and provide a significant economic boost to local hotels, restaurants, and businesses,” said Ryan Cortez, sales manager at Explore Elgin Area.
Beyond its top state ranking, The Hill BMX racetrack currently holds the No. 4 position in the Central Region, which encompasses tracks in Minnesota, Indiana, Illinois, Oklahoma, and Texas. Nationally, the track is ranked No. 9 among all BMX tracks in the U.S.A. and Canada.
The 2025 BMX State Championship will consist of a variety of races for multiple age groups from Friday to Sunday, Sept. 26-28.
Spectators are welcome to attend this exciting event at no cost. Individuals interested in volunteering during the championship event are encouraged to contact JoAnne Mulvihill at thehillbmx@comcast.net.
