Fire leaves Palatine home uninhabitable, no injuries reported
A Palatine home was left uninhabitable, but no one was hurt in a Saturday morning blaze, fire officials said.
The fire broke out at a house on the 200 block of East Colfax Street. A passerby noticed smoke from the roofline, fire officials said. They tried to contact residents, but found no one home and called 911.
Palatine firefighters responded just after 11:50 a.m., encountering smoke showing from the roof.
Firefighters made entry through the front door and found the source of the blaze in the first-floor bathroom.
It took more than two hours for firefighters to bring the fire under control, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but is believed to be accidental. Damage estimates were not available.
