The spending dilemma

What a dilemma. The city of Chicago has a budget deficit and wants more money from the state of Illinois. The State of Illinois also has a deficit and wants more money from the federal government. The federal government has debt in excess of $33 trillion. Where does all this end? Unless all governments are willing to make substantial cuts in spending, we are heading for bankruptcies. Unfortunately, none of these entities has the willpower to take the necessary action, and even if they did, the public would scream. It is not a pretty scenario and reflects a deeper issue, and that is almost everyone’s dependency on some form of government support. Unless we can get the economy booming like it was after WW II, the only solution will be to continually raise taxes - not a popular solution.
