Kane County offers rent and utility help to residents at risk of losing housing
Kane County is offering financial help to renters who are behind on payments and at risk of eviction through the Kane County Homeless Prevention Program. Deadline to apply is July 31, 2025.
The program can help with:
• Past-due rent (up to 12 months, plus up to 3 months of future rent)
• Past-due utility bills (up to 12 months)
• Security deposits for new rentals
Who can apply? You may qualify if:
• Your income is at or below 80% of the area median;
• You live in a rental unit in Kane County;
• You’re behind on rent or utilities, or living in unsafe or overcrowded conditions;
• You have lost income or received unemployment;
• You haven’t received other federal rental help for the same time;
• You haven’t applied for this program before.

You’ll need to create an account. The application can be saved and returned to later. Processing may take 6 to 8 weeks.
