Missing teens from Huntley, Crystal Lake found safe
Police announced Thursday afternoon that two teens who were missing from Huntley and Crystal Lake since Tuesday had been found safe.
“With the help of the FBI and the Chicago Police Department, they were taken into protective custody by the Huntley Police Department,” Huntley authorities said shortly after 4 p.m. “The Crystal Lake Police Department and Metra Police were also instrumental in locating these juveniles. We also thank the public for their assistance in sharing this information."
Police said an investigation into the missing teens still was pending and “no additional information will be released at this time.”
Huntley police had reported Wednesday that Emilia Reichsteiner, 14, of Huntley, and Elizabeth Ernst, 15, of Crystal Lake, did not return from school Tuesday. On Thursday, police said they believed they had taken a train into Chicago and possibly were with an unidentified male.
