No injuries reported in Naperville house fire on Friday.
Naperville Fire Department responded to a fire in the 1800 block of Syracuse Ave at 2:40 p.m., alerted by a neighbor, according a department news release. Additional callers confirmed a large volume of fire and smoke coming from the rear of the home. Before the arrival of fire crews, the homeowners and pets evacuated the building safely, the release said.
Fifteen vehicles and 34 personnel encountered significant fire and smoke conditions, and the fire took over an hour to fully extinguish.
The cause of the structure fire is under investigation. The Naperville Transportation, Engineering, and Development Team declared the building uninhabitable. The damage is estimated at over $300,000, the release said.
