One person dead following head-on collision in Elgin Monday

One person died after a head-on collision on Randall Road in Elgin on Monday afternoon.

According to a press release from the Elgin Police Department, officers responded to a multiple-vehicle crash at about 2:37 p.m. on May 12 on Randall Road south of South Street.

Police say the preliminary investigation indicates that the head-on collision occurred in the northbound lanes of Randall Road and involved multiple vehicles.

One of the drivers was pronounced dead on the scene. Two other people were transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Randall Road was closed to northbound traffic from College Green Drive to South Street until after 11 p.m.

The Elgin Police Department Traffic Unit is continuing to investigate, and police say they are not releasing any other information at this time.
