Still scoffing about Constitution’s demise?
I have speculated that Jan. 20 was not only Inauguration Day but also the Last Rites ceremony for the Constitution. Some scoffed.
Recently, Speaker Johnson publicly announced that if the federal district courts continued to rule against the Trump Administration policies and actions he could always remove the courts from the equation by defunding them. Those remarks were televised.
We also know that the Republicans in Congress have had their political spines and intestines removed so there is little doubt that this could be accomplished without opposition.
Besides the defunding, the courts can issue rulings until the cows come home, but unfortunately they have no actual enforcement mechanism. That chore would fall to the FBI via the Justice Department, which are now led by sycophants.
The survival of the Constitution depends on the willingness of the population to abide by its sensible interpretation. Unfortunately, our government is now led and controlled by a group of people who choose to twist it into a pretzel.
When you consider the actions that have been taken and the number of people hurt are you still scoffing?
