Winfield Public Library director passing the torch

Congratulations to Winfield Public Library Director Matthew Suddarth on his upcoming retirement!

He has been director for more than 22 years, and has seen the library through a renovation project, the shift to more digital technologies, the rise of eBooks, and much more.

During his retirement, he hopes to have more time to travel, visit loved ones, and bike across Illinois’ many beautiful trails.

The library would like to welcome its new director, Joe Marcantonio. He has been an innovator in services to teens and young adults, with his most recent position being teen manager at Schaumberg Township District Library.

The library is glad to welcome him back to Winfield, as he was born and raised there. His first library job was as a page at Winfield Library, and he’s now married to the woman he was dating back then. They have two children, ages 4 and 9. Winfield looks forward to welcoming Joe to the staff.

Matthew and Joe will be working together throughout June, before Matthew retires at the end of the month. The Winfield Library staff and board of trustees wish him all the best in his retirement.
