Hanover Park hosts tree planting to honor commissioner’s environmental legacy

On April 24, the Hanover Park Environmental Committee's Arbor Day Celebration hosted a Tree Planting Dedication in honor of Metropolitan Water Reclamation Commissioner Eira Corral Sepulveda who, in 2021, became the first Latina to be elected as a countywide commissioner in Cook County.

Commissioner Corral Sepulveda is the former Hanover Park Clerk and is being recognized for her dedication and continued commitment as an environmental advocate who calls Hanover Park her home. She was joined by her family, colleagues, Trustee Yasmeen Bankole, Chair of the Hanover Park Environmental Committee Matt Smith, and students from Hanover Highlands Elementary School's Environmental Club as they celebrated and planted a tree in her honor.
