The theme of the day is everything strawberry at the 50th annual Strawberry Festival on Saturday, May 3, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Elgin. Enjoy freshly made strawberry shortcake, chocolate-covered strawberries, purchase strawberry jam and an assortment of goodies from the Bakery.

There is a Vintage Jewelry Boutique where you may just find a real treasure. There is the Strawberry Patch with one-of-a-kind works of art and great themed baskets. There are also crafts made by the Ladies Circle and outside vendors. You can also pick up some plants for your spring garden. Enjoy a ride in an antique fire truck. There is something for everyone!

It is being held the Saturday before Mother’s Day so remember mom when you are shopping. The festival will be 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the church, 340 Grand Blvd., near Lords Park in Elgin. It will be held rain or shine.

The net proceeds will go to the following five agencies: Mission Trip to Mexico, Bethlehem Child Development Center, Scout Troop #111, YWCA Elgin Operation Sweet Live. The cost for shortcake with beverage is $7.
