Naperville’s Cress Creek Garden Club honors scholarship winners

The Cress Creek Garden Club of Naperville is awarding $24,500 in scholarships to students that are high school seniors or current college students that are majoring in areas of interests that align with the club’s mission such as forestry, botany, environmental science, ecology, landscape design, horticulture, and related fields.

The students will be honored at a luncheon on Friday, June 13.

In May, the club’s monthly meeting will be on attracting birds. David Brooks of the Spring Valley Nature Center will present “The How-To of Attracting Birds to Our Yards.” He will discuss ways of attracting a variety of birds using properly maintained feeding stations and food planting. He will cover common local birds and spring/fall migrants in his guide.

Since 1990, Brooks has worked as a professional naturalist and speaker across Chicago.

It will be 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, at Arrowhead Golf Club, 26W151 Butterfield Road, Wheaton. For information, visit cresscreekgardenclub.org.
