Panelists named for One Earth Film Festival April 25

On Friday, April 25, Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St. in Wheaton, will host the “One Earth Film Festival: Power in Unity” from 6 to 9 p.m.

The church will show two episodes from “50 States of Sustainability,” a series of short documentaries about renewable energy and sustainability.

The church also will show one of the One Earth Young Filmmakers winning films. Tickets are free, with a suggested $8 donation to the film festival at garychurch.org/registrations.

You’ll have a chance to discuss the films with local subject matter experts. Panelists include Jeannine Kannegiesser from the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County, Bill Whitney from City Bee Savers, and Wheaton College Professor Kristen Page. The church continues Holy Week worship on Maundy Thursday on April 17 with a communal meal at 5:30 p.m. and worship at 6:30 p.m., including washing hands. Worship on Good Friday, April 18 at 7 p.m. includes departing in silence. Easter Sunday on April 20 will begin with a new outdoor sunrise service at 6 a.m. on the church steps near Main Street. The traditional Easter worship is at 9 and 11:11 a.m., with an Easter egg hunt at 10:15 a.m. in Memorial Park.
