‘Edgy’ Tim: Fors, Myers, Vala move closer to college choices
Barrington High School junior offensive guard Owen Fors (6-foot-4, 280 pounds), a three-star football recruit as rated by Rivals.com, has been moving his recruiting process forward this spring.
Fors is making several Big Ten spring practice visits.
“I've been able to make some recent spring practice visits to Illinois, Indiana, Purdue and Northwestern,” Fors said. “I've also started to set up some official visits for later this spring and early summer.
“I have set official visits so far to Indiana and also Northwestern. I'm also planning to add an official visit to Illinois and I'm working on securing those dates now. I'll take those three official visits and I'm also considering a few others if I feel I need to make those as well.”
Does Fors have a time frame for making a college decision?
“I'm looking to make my decision and be committed to a school sometime in mid to late June. I'll take my official visits and then look hard at my final schools, then make a decision.”
Batavia junior offensive tackle Ryan Myers (6-foot-5, 275 pounds) has been spending his spring break on the road checking out several spring practices.
“I was on spring break last week and my parents and I spent the week on the road visiting schools,” Myers said. “I've been able to get to talk with the coaches at each school and it's been a busy week of travel but also very helpful in just getting a better idea what each school has to offer.
“I started my visits last week and I was able to make spring practice visits to Old Dominion, Columbia and also Yale and I added roster spot offers from both Columbia and Yale. I also went to West Point along with visiting Miami of Ohio and Northwestern. My goal has been to get out and see as many schools as I can and get to know the coaches better at each school.”
So what's next for Myers?
“I'm still very open to schools right now and I'm starting to look harder at everything. I still have several other schools who are still interested in me and want to see me again this spring in school. Some of the bigger schools also want to see me in a camp this summer and I've been getting a lot of summer camp invitations.”
Does he have a time frame for making a college decision?
“I'm looking at waiting until the summer to make a decision, but ideally I can see myself making a decision over the next few months.”
Downers Grove North junior tight end Will Vala (6-foot-3, 220 pounds) has made some recent college spring practice visits along with adding scholarship offers from Indiana, Purdue, Illinois and Louisville.
Vala has also drawn increased attention recently from Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
“I've set up two official visits so far for this summer. I'm set to make an official visit to Illinois on June 4 through June 6. I'm also set to make an official visit to Indiana on June 20 through June 22. I'm still not sure if I'll set up any other official visits for now. I really like Illinois, Indiana and Purdue right now.”
