Zion man faces child pornography charges
A Lake County sheriff’s investigation has led to child pornography charges against a Zion man.
Michael J. Guerra, 55, faces two counts of possession of child pornography.
Sheriff’s detectives received a tip from an online cloud storage website indicating a device in Lake County uploaded child pornography to their platform, officials said in a news release Saturday.
Based on an investigation, authorities determined the likely source was a Zion residence in the 3200 block of Enoch Avenue.
Detectives obtained a search warrant for the home and conducted it with the Illinois attorney general’s office and Lake County state’s attorney’s office Cybercrime Unit on April 11. During the search, detectives seized electronics that contained child pornography, belonging to Guerra, according to the release.
A forensic analysis of Guerra’s numerous electronic devices is ongoing and additional charges are likely, authorities said.
