Democracy should not be taken for granted

For a long time, I’ve questioned why President Trump feels the need to make America great again. He has benefited both personally and financially from being a successful businessman. Yet, speaks no gratitude.

It is our elected officials, including the president, Congress and the Supreme Court who represent the American people and are responsible for governing by the Constitution. Why aren’t they?

Our forefathers had the wisdom to make democracy a reality and America the land of the free. The average American citizen takes democracy for granted. Decisions made by some of wealthiest elected and nonelected are meant to fulfill personal wealth not to better the lives of citizens.

For years, our elected government officials have concentrated on what’s wrong with the opposite party, rather than what can we do for the America people. We are not a unified country. Support and compromise between the two political parties is gone. Hatred reigns. We are losing our place in the world as a leader.

Power brokers, not the average citizen, are causing chaos. America must regain its democratic principles as a leader of the free world. Before it is too late.

Our country has grown and prospered on the backs of people from other countries. Most immigrants want to live peacefully. It is true, some American citizens and immigrants exhibit deviant violent behavior. Why? It is time to reinstate commissions to study and recommend solutions. A social re- evaluation of American society and, the lack of opportunity is needed. Our economy must be rebuilt for all, not some.

There is a wolf in sheep’s clothing bringing America into the law and order of fascists. Speak up.
