Get tips on archive research with genealogy program at St. Charles library
Using archives records for genealogy research can be highly beneficial. The St. Charles Public Library presents “Archives Research & How to Use Basic Resources Found There” on Tuesday, April 15. The program will be held at 7 p.m. in the Huntley Community Room, located on the main level of the library, 1 S. Sixth Ave.
Professional genealogist Laura Street Chaplin will explore the colorful history of archives, including the types of archives and the roles they play, as well as how they’re organized and how to find and access their holdings using catalogs, databases, finding aids, and digital collections. She will discuss how to plan your own archives research trip.
Chaplin completed the Boston University “Certificate in Genealogical Research” program and served as Director and Newsletter Editor for the Illinois State Genealogical Society. She is a member of several professional genealogical societies and the owner of Willowtree Research Genealogy Services.
