Student art brings ‘A Sense of Belonging’ to downtown Glen Ellyn
One Community has partnered with Glenbard West High School and downtown businesses in Glen Ellyn to showcase student artwork in town. These creative pieces reflect diverse identities and experiences of 21 different high school students — experiences that enrich our community every day. The theme this year is “A Sense of Belonging.”
Each composition, along with an artist statement that explains the inspiration behind the piece, is being hosted at business window fronts in downtown Glen Ellyn during the month of April.
Preview these impactful works of art and accompanying artist statements on “One Community” website, www.one-community.org.
Participate in a treasure hunt to discover all of the 21 artworks on display — you can download the “Treasure Hunt” card from Alliance of Downtown Glen Ellyn page, or pick up a card at The Bookstore of Glen Ellyn or at Gather & Collect.
The goal of the Diversity Arts Project is to bring to the community youth voices that capture their varied perspectives, and allow residents to experience and appreciate them.
The public can view the art pieces in the Glen Ellyn Central Business District in April. One Community hopes residents enjoy these creative pieces that highlight the richness of this multifaceted village, through the art strokes of those who will lead our society in the future.
