Bartlett police arrest 19-year-old in connection with 2023 motor vehicle thefts

Bartlett police Friday arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with a series of motor vehicle thefts and an attempted theft from when he was a juvenile two years ago.

The crimes occurred from March 11, 2023, through April 29, 2023, on the 500 block of Deere Park Circle.

After an extensive investigation, police allege that on March 11, 2023, the teen stole a black 2011 Hyundai Sonata. On April 28, 2023, he reportedly attempted to steal a white 2018 Kia Forte, but was unsuccessful.

On April 29, 2023, the teen is accused of stealing a gray 2012 Hyundai Elantra. Bartlett police said they concluded that in each instance the suspect forcefully gained entry into the vehicles by breaking a rear passenger window.

The man has been charged with felony motor vehicle theft and two misdemeanor counts.

After his arrest, the teen was released following a detention hearing.
