Learn about hospice and palliative care at St. Charles library program

The St. Charles Public Library is hosting an informational program, “Hospice and Palliative Care for You or Your Loved One” at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 3.

Kristin Tosaw, an Advanced Practice Nurse in Palliative Care, will explain the difference between palliative care and hospice. She will discuss eligibility, and the course of care available.

Hospice care is a type of end-of-life care that is provided when a person is nearing the end of their life, typically with a prognosis of six months or less to live. Palliative care, on the other hand, is focused on providing relief from the symptoms and suffering associated with serious illnesses, but it is not limited to the end of life.

To register, visit scpld.org or call (630) 584-0076. The St. Charles Public Library is located at One South Sixth Avenue in St. Charles.
