Results show merits of board incumbents

Recently the Daily Herald endorsed three candidates, Denice Bocek, Joanne Johnson and Les Ottenheimer for election to the Buffalo Grove Village Board. I strongly agree with that endorsement. I also serve on the Village Board in Buffalo Grove and have had the opportunity to work with all of them for varying lengths of time.

While Bocek, Johnson and Ottenheimer have different skill sets and different work experiences, they all bring the same focus to the role — how to maintain the current level of success that the village is experiencing and how to build for even greater future successes. That focus has resulted in a 0% increase in real estate taxes for several years despite the obvious increase in costs that we all experience, while maintaining the same high level of services that residents have come to expect. At the same time, again without any increase in real estate taxes, they have been instrumental in investing millions of dollars in improving Village infrastructure so that the Village will be in a position to continue to provide those services.

Bocek, Johnson and Ottenheimer have also been strong supporters of growing the local economy, without asking taxpayers to foot the bill. The success of their efforts acts to take pressure off of real estate taxes as the vehicle to fund services to the community. You only have to look around to see how successful their efforts have been — the Clove, Lazy Dog, Bison Crossing, the NCH property, to name just a few.

Denice Bocek, Joanne Johnson and Les Ottenheimer deserve your vote.
