Families greet, feed animals as Lambs Farm opens for new season

Children and their parents rushed down the path through the farm buildings Saturday to see their favorite animals on opening day at Lambs Farm in Libertyville.

Josh Novick of Deerfield and his son Hudson, 2, both sported big smiles as they fed Rocky, a giant bovine, that was also two years old and seemed to be smiling as well.

The entire Novick family was wearing T-shirts with a photo of Rocky on them. The Deerfield family also volunteers at the farm on occasion.

Four-year-old Lucy Mullen of Wilmette was also beaming as she fed hay to Stella the cow while her mother took photos.

Lambs Farm has a long history in Libertyville. With help from friends, family and donors, Bob Terese and Corinne Owen, who moved to the area in 1965, turned a century-old barn into one of the area’s largest pet stores and used the additional space to create new businesses.

Today, Lambs Farm makes a difference in the lives of nearly 250 participants and welcomes thousands of visitors every year.
