No injuries in Lombard fire that leaves home uninhabitable

No one was injured in an early morning fire Tuesday in Lombard that left a home uninhabitable.

According to a press release from the village, Lombard firefighters responded to a fire at a single-story, single-family home near Harrison Road and Charlotte Street at about 5:30 a.m.

Lombard police, who were first on the scene, evacuated the homeowner and their cat before firefighters arrived.

Firefighters were able to bring the blaze, which was exacerbated outside by a nearby propane tank, under control within about a half hour.

The Lombard Fire Investigation Unit is working to find the cause of the fire. Damage was estimated to exceed $100,000.
