Solid plans for highway commissioner
I recently met several candidates who are running for various local offices in Milton Township. I was especially impressed with Michael H. Drew, who is running for Milton Township Highway Commissioner.
As highway commissioner, his primary responsibility will be road maintenance in unincorporated portions of the township. Here are the two traits that I found most impressive:
First, Mr. Drew has decades of experience doing similar work in the private sector. He knows how to fix roads, how to manage a roads budget and how to train his staff. He has managed larger staffs and larger budgets in the private sector than he will be required to manage as highway commissioner.
Second, when I asked him what he would do if elected, he provided specific, actionable goals for improving road maintenance without going over budget. For example, he had plans to improve the road maintenance schedule and to train existing staff to provide more services.
The election is April 1.
Michael H. Drew will have my vote.
