Arlington Heights police investigation finds no evidence pets were deliberately poisoned
Arlington Heights police have found no evidence any pets or wildlife were deliberately poisoned following an investigation of a sign suggesting otherwise.
The sign posted near West Eastman Street and North Somerset Lane indicated there were chicken bones and rat poison scattered in the area, advising dog owners to be aware of potential danger.
The police investigation was launched after the department received several reports and phone calls from concerned residents over the past week.
But two public service officers trained in animal welfare conducted an extensive search and investigation finding no evidence of any poison or chicken bones, nor sick or deceased wildlife in the immediate or surrounding areas, police said.
The department has not received any reports of sick or deceased pets from owners or veterinary clinics either.
Nevertheless, officers will maintain their vigilance for any suspicious activity, items or indications of animal poisoning in the area, police said. Residents are also asked to report any suspicious activity they observe.
