Elgin chapter of Izaak Walton to host biodiversity program
On Tuesday, March 4, the Elgin Chapter of the Izaak Walton League of America will host a program on biodiversity at 7 p.m. at the Hanover Township Izaak Walton Center, 899 Jay St. in Elgin.
This year’s National Biodiversity Teach-in, organized by science students at Elgin High School, featured 21 webinars on topics like bobcats in Illinois, plastic in the aquatic ecosystems and polar bears in a changing Arctic.
Over the years the annual monthlong teach-in’s have registered more than 124,000 participants from more than 41 countries around the globe.
Staff and students also will give updates on the restoration project in the oak woodlands on campus next to Poplar Creek. The program is free and open.
