MCC concert series to feature hits from the ’80s and beyond
Vocalist Maureen Christine and woodwind artist Michael Bazan will perform “Music From the 1980s and More” as part of the McHenry County College Concert Series on Sunday, Feb. 16.
Christine brings her engaging stage presence and crystal-clear voice to popular 1980s hit songs by female vocalists (and a few male pop stars as well). She will be joined by Michael Bazan on woodwinds and Chuck Larkin on piano.
Christine is a national recording artist and award-winning singer with a lovely, sweet voice and a beautiful way with ballads. She has opened for Helen Reddy, Willie Nelson, and has sung the national anthem for the Chicago Cubs and in movies. Bazan is a respected music educator and professional musician who has played for renowned artists such as Cab Calloway, Billy Eckstine, The Four Tops, and Frankie Valli. They will be accompanied by pianist Chuck Larkin, former music director and keyboardist for Jersey Boys.
The performance will be held at 3 p.m. in the Luecht Auditorium, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake. It is free and open to the public.
The MCC Concert Series features a variety of classical, jazz, and folk musicians from the McHenry County area along with semiannual concerts featuring the MCC concert choir, concert band, and jazz ensemble. Upcoming performances include the MCC faculty recital on Feb. 23 at 3 p.m.; the Pat Gaughan Trio and the McNulty Irish Dancers on March 12 at 7 p.m.; and Winds Off the Lake woodwind quintet on April 13 at 3 p.m.
