St. Charles Mental Health Board accepting funding applications until March 10

The St. Charles 708 Community Mental Health Board will consider requests for funding for fiscal year 2025-26 at its annual meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, in council chambers, 2 E. Main St.

Applications will be accepted through March 10. Agency applications and guidelines are www.stcharlesil.gov.

Last fiscal year, the city council approved $660,000 be distributed by the mental health board to 19 qualified not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) agencies. These agencies serve the residents of St. Charles by providing services related to mental disorders, developmental disabilities, substance abuse, and drug abuse.

Since 1986, the city has levied a tax dedicated to the mental health needs of the residents. Historically, the tax has been near or about $0.04/$100 of equalized assessed value. The Community 708 Mental Health Board reviews funding requests from local mental health agencies and recommends distribution of the collected funds.
