New pastor to be installed Feb. 15 at Elgin’s Holy Trinity Church
Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Elgin is inviting the community to the ordination to the ministry of Word and Sacrament to Andrea Delaney at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15.
Bishop Yehiel Curry, of Metro Chicago Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, will preach and preside. She also will be installed as the 19th pastor of Holy Trinity.
A celebration dinner follows the service.
Delaney was consecrated June 1, 1997 as a Lutheran Deaconess. She has served congregations in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois.
Delaney started at Holy Trinity as youth director. In 2021, she began seminary and became the vicar of Holy Trinity. At that time, the Bishop of the Metro Chicago Synod authorized her as a Synodic Authorized Member to preside at communion, baptisms, weddings and funerals.
This celebrates the end of a four-year journey in which Vicar Andrea earned a Master of Divinity degree at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa.
Holy Trinity invites the public to attend the ordination service as well as services each weekend at 5 p.m. Saturdays and 9:30 a.m. Sundays at the church, 357 Division St. in downtown Elgin. For information, visit holytrinityelgin.com or follow the church on Facebook.
