Illinois announces women’s basketball players Cook, Dolan will miss rest of the season

The Illinois women’s basketball team will be without two key players the rest of the season, coach Shauna Green announced Wednesday.

Senior guard Makira Cook will be out with an “ongoing health condition.” Cook concludes her college eligibility with 1,723 points, an average of 14.6 a game. She has 408 assists, 376 rebounds and 119 steals across 118 games played and 95 starts. Cook finished with 86 games scoring 10-plus points, 33 with 20-plus points and one 30-point outing. The point guard notched four double-doubles.

Fighting Illini sophomore Gretchen Dolan will be out due to a knee injury.

Across the eight games Dolan appeared in during the 2024-25 campaign, she averaged 10.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 0.9 steals while playing 24.3 minutes a game.
