Cook and Lake County girls basketball roundup: Maine South, Stevenson advance in openers at Dundee-Crown

At Dundee-Crown Komaromy Classic

Maine South 67, Hampshire 24: The Hawks (11-3) rolled to an easy win in their tournament opener. Kelly Barker and Katie Pape each scored 12 points while Emily Currey added 10 points and Asia Kobylarczyk had 8 points.

Hononegah 58, Buffalo Grove 35: The Bison (4-8) lost in their opener of the tournament. Olivia Hill had 20 points for Buffalo Grove.

Lake Park 31, Barrington 25 (OT): Barrington came up a bit short. The Fillies rallied from a three-point deficit in the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

Stevenson 59, South Elgin 37: Stevenson (8-4) won its fourth in their last five games. Nisha Musunuri paced Stevenson with 23 points, including five 3-pointers.

Huntley 66, Maine West 14: Maine West ran into a tough Huntley squad and fell as Ava Roback scored 7 points for the Warriors.

At Loyola

Lockport 43, Carmel 41: Carmel (6-9) missed a three-pointer at the buzzer and fell in the quarterfinals.

Hersey 37, Lincoln-Way Central 31: The Huskies (11-4) advanced to the semifinals.

At St. Viator Blenner Classic

Glenbard West 59, Mundelein 24: Glenbard West moved into the finals of the tournament by beating Mundelein (8-7). The Mustangs were led by Grace Dunigan, who had 7 points and 5 rebounds.

Grayslake Central 49, Vernon Hills 38: Madison Hoffman cracked the 1,500-point barrier with 17 points, 7 rebounds and three steals and Peyton Hoffman added 15 points. 9 rebounds and three assists as the Rams (11-4) held off the Cougars. Vernon Hills (9-5) was led by Emma Jocson, who finished with 12 points.

Glenbrook North 46, St. Viator 36: Glenbrook North advance to the championship game by beating the Lions. Kalin McCrea led Viator (11-3) with 11 points, 4 rebounds and three steals.

At Libertyville:

Libertyville 66, Evanston 33: The Wildcats (10-4) won their second game in their tournament with an easy win over Evanston. Lily Fisher had 21 points, Elinor Lindal 13 and Madison Sears 9.
